Peace Builder Youth Award

DoveRight

Nominate a Youth Peace Builder Now!!

WHO:

Each year spectacular things are initiated by young people, things that develop an awareness of a need for action around them: in their school, church, neighborhood or our greater world community. This awareness might lead to an uncommon action taken by a student or group of students. Already there are awards for academic achievement and awards for athletic accomplishments, but there is nothing for youth who express a desire to make the world a better, more peaceful place. These are the young people who have a “vision” and plan an action of some kind that changes the world around them. This is what the Peace Builder Award will recognize.

WHAT:

Selections will be based on the quality of the entries. The number of awards will be determined by the Selection Committee, a subset of the Peace Coalition.

  • Due to the broad range and possibilities of activities/actions, there are no subcategories of awards; although such things as the mediums of art, poetry, dance, theater, conflict resolution, and community service could certainly qualify.
  • All nominees and winners will be recognized at a Peace Builder Youth Award Celebration. Nominees and their parents would be guests at the Celebration. Awards will be presented to the winners at the Celebration. (If the young person was nominated by someone other than themselves, the writer of the nomination will also be included.)
  • Winners and nominees will be featured at http://Connect2Peace.org

NOMINEE CRITERIA:

  • Nominee/s must reside within Winnebago County
  • Nominee/s must be under the age of 21
  • Nominee/s project must be completed between May, 2015 – April 4, 2016
