	PEACE BUILDER YOUTH AWARDS

WHO:	Young people are doing spectacular things every day right in their own communities – their school, their church, their neighborhood – or even taking action that impacts the greater national or world community around them. We want to uplift and recognize young people who express a desire to make the world a better, more peaceful place. Whether an individual or a team, we want to show these young people that their efforts are valued, and encourage them to continue taking action that will positively impact their world. These are people who have a vision and a plan of action that changes the world around them. This is what the Peace Builder Award will recognize.
WHAT:	The number of awards will be determined by the Selection Committee, a subset of the Peace Coalition. Due to the broad range and possibilities of activities/actions, there are no subcategories of awards; although such things as the mediums of art, poetry, dance, theater, conflict resolution, and community service all qualify. All nominees will be recognized at a Peace Builder Youth Award Celebration held at Rockford University on November 6th at 5:00 pm. Nominators, nominees and parents are guests at the Celebration. The 2019 Peace Builder Youth Award recipient will be announced at the Celebration. Winners and nominees will be featured on the http://Connect2Peace.org
Nominee Criteria:	Nominee/s must reside within Winnebago County Nominee/s must be under the age of 21 Nominee/s project must be completed between Sept. 1. 2018 – August 31, 2019
	ROCKFORD BUILDS THE PEACE PLEDGE I believe that we must and we can Build the Peace Every Day. Every Person, in Every Family, School, Community, City and Country. I believe that my own thoughts, words and actions make a difference. Therefore from this day forward I commit myself to the United Nations Culture of Peace Pledge: Respect all life; Reject violence; Share with others; Listen to understand; Preserve the planet and Rediscover Solidarity. We must and we can build a “beloved community.”
